I won’t bury the lede – everything in our world changed on Wednesday 5/13/2026 when Florence Mae Harris decided to make her appearance nine days ahead of schedule.
Sarah went in for a routine appointment on Tuesday 5/12 and was told that she was on schedule for a delivery around the due date. Our plan over those next few days was for Sarah to finish up some things for work, pack up our hospital bags and Harvey’s things for his stay with Grammy and Grandad (Mike Sr. and Georgann), get the cars detailed, and deep clean the house. As it turned out, Florence had other plans.
Around 4:30am on 5/13, Sarah woke up with what she thought was food related stomach discomfort. By 7:30 it was clear that she was definitely in labor. All of our plans went out the window and I ran around packing things up, calling our doctor, doula, and my parents. Around 9 the doctor told us to get to the hospital, so after my parents picked up Harvey, we got in the car. Mercifully, there was no traffic on the parkway and after dropping Sarah at the E.R., I parked the car at 10:25. After getting rushed in, Florence entered the world at 11:01am. It was a whirlwind morning, especially compared to Harvey’s 27 hour labor. Sarah and Florence were both healthy and feeling good immediately following and while it wasn’t the date Sarah wanted (IYKYK), lucky number 13 is a good one.
I’ll stop the story time and get to what everyone really cares about – the photos. Here’s what life has looked like this month with the newest member of the family
